Mid-East Links

Over the last few days, I’ve been getting tons of links about the war in the Middle-East. A sample:

  • An online petition to save the Lebanese civilians.
  • An op-ed from Gideon Levy in Ha’aretz, in which he says: “Regrettably, the Israel Defense Forces once again looks like the neighborhood bully. A soldier was abducted in Gaza? All of Gaza will pay. Eight soldiers are killed and two abducted to Lebanon? All of Lebanon will pay. One and only one language is spoken by Israel, the language of force.”
  • Pictures of Israeli children writing messages on artillery shells destined for Lebanon.
  • Five months ago, we were rooting for Amir Peretz (the “dove”) to win the elections in Israel. But now that he’s Defense Minister, he brags that Hizbollah’s Sheikh Nasrallah “is never going to forget the name Amir Peretz.” So this is why Lebanese civilians are killed? To teach Nasrallah the name ‘Amir Peretz’? He makes me ashamed to be Moroccan.
  • Are there any American journalists covering the Middle East war who can hold a candle to Anthony Shadid? Read his reports. Now.
