The U.S. government is trying to get Google to turn over files showing users’ searches during “an unspecified single week” as well as 1 million randomly selected Web addresses. The government says it is trying to “restore online child protection laws that have been struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court.”

Yahoo has already complied with a similar government request. So far, Google has not.
