Stranded People Pick Internet, Books

The February issue of The Atlantic features in its Primary Sources section the results of a survey commissioned by Yahoo and media agency OMD. One thousand households with online access were asked which item they would take if they had to live on the deserted island. Unsurprisingly, 64% of respondents picked “computer and Internet access.” Picking the Internet is a practical answer if you’re going to be cut off from the rest of the world. But 18% of respondents said they would take books. This was far ahead of any other choice of entertainment (TV, radio, newspaper, etc.)
