Scandal Grows, Rumsfeld unbothered

Hitchens writes about Abu Ghraib, though he seems far too concerned about the fact that the prison won’t be solely remembered as Saddam’s torture chamber than about the actual cases of torture and what it means for the occupation of Iraq. Elsewhere, there’s no short supply of irony as the army begs the Arab world not to consider the actions of a few as representative of the entire group. And, taking a page from the Saddam book of tours, the army is taking journalists on a guided visit of the prison, so long as they don’t ask questions or take pictures. This morning, the Post published new pictures of the abuse. (Warning: graphic and revolting.) But Rumsfeld can keep his job. That’s nice.
