CivilWarLand Film

George Saunders’ short story collection CivilWarLand in Bad Decline may be adapted for the screen, and Ben Stiller is cited as a potential producer.

Saunders said Stiller traveled Upstate to meet him and visit the real-life park that inspired “CivilWarLand,” Genesee Country Village & Museum outside Rochester, where actors in period dress tell visitors about American life in the 1800s and demonstrate blacksmithing, spinning and other skills. Saunders has written the screenplay, and Stiller plans to seek financing for the project after he’s done shooting “Meet the Fockers,” a sequel to the 2000 film, “Meet the Parents.”
