treisman on debut fiction
A while back, when Deborah Treisman took over from Bill Buford at The New Yorker, she drew the ire of online writing communities at Readerville and Zoetrope for saying things like “Someone who’s submitting themselves directly to the fiction editor probably isn’t all that savvy about publishing and probably not about writing either.” Now her first debut fiction issue for the New Yorker is on stands.
