what were they thinking?

I’m depressed about this. It’s not that I’m so enamored with the Democrats (they’re just as sold to cold, hard cash as the other guys) but with the loss of the Senate things aren’t going to get better in terms of handling corporate malfeasance, the environment, the war on Iraq, or the Middle East mess. Alex, ever the optimist, says that this loss will force the democrats to recraft their message.
I don’t know.
Here in California, Gray Davis won, unsurprisingly. Measure B, which is designed to save the few trauma centers we have left, looks like it passed, and Prop 50, which would protect the water also passed. The rest is business as usual, with democrats sweeping all the major positions. Yawn.
